The Jamesport Vineyard was formed in 1981 by Ron Groler Sr. and his son Ron Jr. The vineyard is 60 acres, 40 in vines, and produces 7000 cases per year. They are one of the earlier winemakers on the island. The winery is very much and estate operation, controlling every aspect of the process. Small and artisanal in philosophy they embody the spirit of the early industry on the North Fork.

The vineyard has been a training ground for some of the more notable lights on the East End. Richard Pisacano, now the vineyard manager at Wolffer and owner of Roanoke worked at Jamesport early in its life after a stint at Mudd. Richard Olsen-Harbich, now at Raphael, was winemaker in the 90's at Jamesport and oversaw the production of some of the spectacular vintages from that decade. Les Howard, currently winemaker at Pindar, held his first position as a winemaker at Jamesport. Les was thirty years old when he started, making him one of the youngest winemakers on the Island at the time.
