Pale straw with light green hue. Bread, vanilla, butterscotch, and loam on the nose. A bit of pepper and Granny smith forward with pears, baked apples, and brown sugar developing. Wine shows roundness without becoming rotund. Textures are creamy with an undertone of buttery notes. Finish gets surprisingly big showing grip and strength; well defined flavors of tart apples, pears, pepper, and smoke. Flavors open nicely in the glass providing different complexions with time. Cellar work is nicely balanced with fruit. Loamy minerals are consistent throughout. Acids are sufficiently present to punch through butter notes and provide a structure. What is most striking is that it is restrained but still quite concentrated and big; a delight. Good as an aperitif. Pair with grilled fish, roasted poultry with cream sauces, or pasta with Carbonara or Alfredo style sauces.
