Medium to deep garnet on the glass on the Schneider Cabernet Franc le Breton. Impressive and ripe nose full of currants and blackberries, black pepper, and earth tones; deep and complex. Flavors of black currants and currant jam and marked lovely fruit backed by cracked black pepper. Develops mushrooms, bell pepper, sea salt, and thistle tones on mid palate. Fairly full bodied wine shows how ripe the 2007 vintage was with solid ripe fruit. Tannins demonstrate moderate grip and solid acids given the exuberant fruit flavors. Complex and rich with interesting balance between earth and fruit themes. Finish gets spicy showing good length with fruit themes seeming to drop out in favor of pepper and earth. Should age nicely for the next 5 to 10 years. The development of secondary tones could make this wine a classic. Could work as a winter aperitif, best with food however. Pair with roast rack of lamb.
